SALEM, Va. - The Virginia Wesleyan University women's cross country team finished 11th out of 19 teams. The squad put up a team score of 263 points all while averaging a 26:56 in the 6-kilometer race.
It was freshman Haley Witt who topped the Marlin squad for the second-straight race. The Winchester, Va. native ran a 25:33.9 which put her 30th place out of the 147 runners competing. Not far behind her was fellow freshman Marranda Hansford, who finished with a time of 26:15.2 which put her in 44th place.
Next to cross the line for the Marlins was Emily Petsko, who clocked a 26:47.5 in her second ever collegiate race. That time earned her 57th overall. Rounding out the team scorers were a pair of veterans in Destiny Kinka and Kayleen Meinen. Kinka placed 76th with a time of 27:59.2 while Meinen was just a step behind as she came in at 28:01.2.
