Women's Soccer Falls in PKs in ODAC Championship Final

ASHLAND. VA - The Virginia Wesleyan University women's soccer team fell to Randolph-Macon in penalty kick shootout Sunday afternoon in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Championship Final. With the result, the Marlins record moves to 13-3-4 on the season.

After two scoreless periods of overtime, the Marlins and Yellow Jackets headed to a best-of-five shoot out. Randolph-Macon scored on their first three attempts, but Virginia Wesleyan answered back courtesy of Kennedi Anders, Reina Araujo and Allie Angell. In round four, Macon scored to open the round and the Yellow Jacket netminder was able to make the save on the Marlin attempt. The Yellow Jackets then made it a perfect 5-of-5 to clinch the victory.

The Marlins saw a couple of attempts in regulation including two from Gabrielle Lindo, but both shots were knocked down by defenders before reaching the goal.

Amruta Karkare played the entire contest in goal, stopping a critical shot in OT to push it to PKs
