ASHLAND, Va. – The Virginia Wesleyan University women's soccer team played Randolph-Macon to a 0-0 draw Wednesday afternoon on the road. With the result the Marlins move to 8-3-2 on the season while remaining unbeaten in conference at 5-0-2. The Yellow Jackets also move to 5-0-2 in the ODAC while going to 9-0-2 overall.
It was a close game all 110 minutes of play. The Marlins nearly broke the stand still in the first overtime as four minutes in, the ball found its way into the back of the Yellow Jacket net. The goal was waived off though due to an offside on the play.
Shots were nearly even with Virginia Wesleyan holding a slight 18-17 advantage. Cameryn Terry led the squad in total shots with six, registering a pair at the end of the first half that just missed above the crossbar. Brooke Adamchak also recorded three shots, two of which found their way on target.
Tristen Roberts guarded the goal for the duration of the game, stopping all three shots Randolph-Macon shot at her. The junior also picked up her fourth shut out of the year.
Women's soccer returns to action at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday as the team hosts Guilford on Senior Day.
