The 2018-19 campaign marks Mat Littleton’s 15th season as the head coach of the men’s cross country and track and field programs at Virginia Wesleyan University.

Littleton has produced multiple All-ODAC and All-Region competitors, earning Co-ODAC Coach of the Year honors for the 2008 cross country season.

Littleton earned a Bachelor’s of Arts in English with a minor in psychology from North Central College in 2001. He competed in cross country for North Central, which has won 19 National Titles in cross country. Littleton also competed in outdoor track and field for NCC, which has won 12 NCAA Championships in track and field.

He was coached by Al Carius, who was featured in Sports Illustrated as the NCAA Division III Cross Country Coach of the Century. As an athlete, Littleton has gone on to compete in the Boston Marathon in 2003 and 2005.

Littleton earned his Masters of Science degree in educational leadership from Quincy University.
