FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – The Virginia Wesleyan University women's outdoor track and field team opened up its season Saturday at the Mary Washington Invite hosted by the University of Mary Washington.
Kwonsha Washington found plenty of success on the day picking up a pair of fourth-place finishes. The Senior clocked a 1:09.69 in the 400m hurdles after setting a time of 27.03 in the 200m dash. Right behind her in the 200m dash was teammate Shannan Harris, whose time of 27.20 earned her fifth place out of the 35 runners competing. Arianna Ward Also turned in a solid time in the 400m as her 1:04.57 was good enough for ninth out of 26.
In the field events, Mariama Diallo had a big day. The freshman thrower tossed the discus 31.24m, earning her second out of the 12 competitors.
Women's outdoor track and field will be back in action on April 4, as the team heads to nearby William and Mary for a three-day meet.
