VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – Hanna Hull of the No. 1 Virginia Wesleyan University softball team was tabbed a First Team Academic All-District member by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
The award recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The organization recognizes baseball honorees in four divisions - NCAA Division I, II, III, and NAIA - and divides the student-athletes into eight geographic districts across the United States and Canada.
Hull has produced another dominant year in the circle for the Marlins, recording 29 wins against only four losses. Over the course of her junior campaign, Hull has racked up 339 strikeouts which tops all pitchers in Division III. Her ERA of 0.55 is second in the country only to Ally Wiegand of last year's National Runner Up Illinois Wesleyan University. This year she has also tossed four no-hitters to go along with 16 double-digit punch out games.
It's not just her work on the field though, as the start hurler has also performed excellently in the classroom. A major in mathematics, Hull has maintained a GPA above 3.5 and was also accepted into Chi Alpha Sigma, a National Leadership Society for collegiate athletes.
Hull was one of just 11 athletes in the region to earn this honor and only one of five from the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC).
