LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The No. 1 Virginia Wesleyan University softball team had three members selected to National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-Atlantic Region Teams for their efforts during the 2018 season. Hanna Hull and Cassetty Howerin both earned spots on the First Team while Madison Glaubke collected Second Team honors.
Hull has showed no signs of slowing down after her stellar freshman campaign, picking up First Team All-Conference honors for the second-straight year. The Chesterfield, Va. native has topped Division III in victories (32) and ranks second in total strikeouts (296). In the NCAA Regional, Hull picked up all three wins, allowing just five earned runs against some of the nation's top teams. This year, the sophomore has been tagged First Team All-ODAC as well as the conference's Pitcher of the Year and ODAC Championship Most Valuable Player.
Howerin has been elite at the plate for the Marlins throughout career, making no exception this season. The senior is currently ranked eighth in the country in RBI (54) and is only six walks away from breaking the Division III all-time career walks record. Howerin has excelled at the big moments this season, taking away All-Tournament Team honors at the ODAC Championship before being named the Most Valuable Player at the NCAA Regional. The Dover, Del. native also led the conference in RBI and hits, garnering her a spot on the All-Conference First Team for the fourth-straight year.
Glaubke has been one of Coach Brandon Elliott's most trusted player in the lineup this season. After not making an All-Conference Team her freshman year, this sophomore blasted off in her second season as she was named the ODAC Player of the Year. Glaubke has been one of three Marlins to eclipse the 50 hit mark (54), only trailing Howerin in batting average with a .436. The Virginia Beach local made herself known this weekend at the NCAA Regionals as she clubbed a bomb in the win over Gettysburg College.
All three All-Region members will join their teammates this weekend for the NCAA Super Regional against Berry College right here on the Campus of Virginia Wesleyan University this weekend. Game one will take place at 4 p.m. on Friday.
