Hull Breaks Records in Regular Season Finale
VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – Freshman Hanna Hull broke her own single-game strikeout record, also besting the VWC single season strikeout record, as the No. 1-ranked Marlins swept Bridgewater College in ODAC play Saturday. Virginia Wesleyan recognzed seniors Kasey Newcomb, Liz Bailey, and Blake Henderson prior to the game.
The Marlins paid homage to another one of the great Marlins in between games as Tori Higginbotham '14 becomes the first Marlin to have her jersey retired. She is first in VWC history in career home runs (31) and runs (209), and is second in ODAC and team history in stolen bases (129). She is also the Virginia Wesleyan leader, second in ODAC history, with 245 hits. She has posted the top three hit totals in school history (70 - 2013, 68 - 2014, 66 - 2012).

The freshman doubled to right field to bring in Lindsay for the 3-0 lead. Hull struck out the side in the top of the seventh inning to seal the victory.

Senior Kasey Newcomb (2-0) shined in her second start of the season on Senior Day, getting the win while throwing 6.1 innings and allowing five hits and only one run. Alana Peters finished off the game in relief throwing a perfect two thirds of an inning.
