LEXINGTON, Va. – The Virginia Wesleyan University men's swim team had a solid outing in the season opening ODAC Relays hosted by Washington and Lee University on Saturday afternoon. The squad took home eighth overall, racking up 23 points on the day.
It was a foursome of veterans including Max Currens, Grant Morgan, Kyle Woolf and Tyler Strong who found most of the success for the team, performing well in a trio of traditional races. The squad combined for a time of 1:40.09 in the 200-yard freestyle relay, just missing the school record by less than a second. Sticking with the freestyle, the foursome rang up a time of 3:46.09 in the 400yd relay which was the second fastest in VWU history.
Those four also found success in the 200-yard medley finishing 13th overall. They would touch the final wall in 1:55.46, which is only four seconds removed from the benchmark at Virginia Wesleyan.
Men's swimming will return to action again at 12 p.m. on Saturday as the team will host Randolph for their first home meet of the 2019-20 season.
