VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - The Virginia Wesleyan University men's lacrosse team fell to Lynchburg, 28-8, Saturday afternoon on Birdsong Field. With the loss the Marlins move to 3-10 on the season and 1-5 in conference play. Lynchburg improves to 7-6 on the year (4-1 ODAC).

The Marlins started out the game hot, as Joe Couture tucked a goal away in the opening seconds to take any steam out of the Hornets. Lynchburg answered back with two of their own, but Tyler Conn evened it up at the 11:13 mark with a rip from the goalie's left. After the opening minutes, the visiting side turned on its offense, outshooting 54-27.

Dante Castillo had a couple nice moves off the face off, that allowed him to drive right to the goal and score, earning him two on the night. Couture would also finish the contest with a pair of goals.

In goal, Chris McTague played the opening 30 minutes turning aside seven Hornet shots. Philip Venani would finish out the tilt, recording five saves.

Men's lacrosse will return to action at 5 p.m. on Wednesday as the team hosts Methodist University.
