Men's Lacrosse Downs Randolph 17-6 in Commanding Fashion
VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. -- The Virginia Wesleyan College men's lacrosse team scored the first six goals of the game and held an 13-2 lead after three quarters to defeat Randolph College 17-6 in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) play Saturday afternoon.
The Marlin defense held the WildCats in check throughout the first half, keeping the home team off the board until the 8:46 mark of the second quarter.
Randolph's defense looked just as impressive early, holding the Marlins scoreless until midway through the first quarter when Joe Couture found the back of the net at the 8:19 mark.
The Marlins were just as impressive after intermission, extending a 7-2 lead to 13-2 with six scores. In the first and third quarters, Virginia Wesleyan outscored the WildCats 11-0.
Mitch MacDonald had three goals for Randolph (8-7/2-5) as Graham Southwick posted three assists.
Currier had five goals and three assists for the Marlins while Baldwin collected a career-high five points on three goals and two helpers. Currier now has 72 career goals, the first Marlin to top 70 scores.
Virginia Wesleyan (10-4/4-3) travels to Hampden-Sydney College (11-5/6-2) Wednesday for a 7 p.m. ODAC contest.
