WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – The Virginia Wesleyan University men's golf team took fifth at the Glenn Heath Memorial on Tuesday played at Williamsburg Golf Club. The Marlins shot a team total of 318 on day one before rounding out day two with a total of 326 for a two-day score of 644.
Keith Cooper continued to impress in his senior year campaign, topping out the Marlin squad. On day one, he turned in a scorecard of a 73 (+1), matching the lowest total across both days before shooting a 79 (+7) on day two. His two-round score tied him for fifth overall in the 65 person field.
Behind him was Taylor Cunningham who placed 19th with a two round score of 161. The sophomore shot an 81 on day one before shaving off a single stroke on day two. Jackson Lyons was the next low score to come in for VWU placing 25th with a two-day total of 163 (RD1 – 80 / Rd2 – 83).
Rounding out the Marlins was Stone Skeeter who placed 35th. The senior shot an 84 on both days for a grand total of 168.
Men's golf returns to action on Sunday as the team heads to Greensboro, N.C. for round one of the three-day Old Dominion Athletic Conference Championship.
