JACKSONVILLE, N.C. - The Virginia Wesleyan University men's golf team has turned in some solid scores over the first two days of the Marine Federal Credit Union Invitational at Camp Lejeune. The team currently sits in fourth of the 30 team field.
Day one was monumental for the Marlin squad as the team turned in the best single-day score in Virginia Wesleyan history. The top four scorers combined for a 283 on the day just three over par for the course. Leading the way was Jakob Keidel who shot a 68 (-2).Following closely behind him was Carter Morgan whose 70 was right on par. Rounding out the placing scorers were Jacob Laughlin (72) Kevin Duffy (73).
Day two was played on a tougher par 72 course, but the Marlins continued to find their stroke combining for a 296 (+8). This time it was Keith Cooper who led the squad with a day's score of 72 (par). Just one stroke back was Duffy and shooting a 75 was Morgan The final score of the foursome came by way of Keidel as he shot an 76 (+4).
Men's golf will tee off at 9 a.m. on Sunday in the final day of the Invitaitonal.
