SALEM, Va. - The Virginia Wesleyan University field hockey team fell, 3-0, to Roanoke Saturday afternoon on the road. With the result, the Marlins conclude their season with a final record of 5-13, finishing 2-6 in conference play.
The Maroons struck midway through the first quarter to open up the scoring and put away two more before halftime. The Marlins found some offense, putting six shots on target including a pair from Lexi Thomas and Karleigh Warren, but were not able to find their way by the Maroon goalie.
Maura Bridges played a 60 minutes in net for the visiting squad, stopping three Roanoke shots.
