BALTIMORE, Md. - The Virginia Wesleyan University field hockey team fell, 3-2, to Goucher Wednesday on the road. With the loss, the Marlins move to 2-4 on the season while Goucher improves to 4-2.
After finding themselves in an early hole, Stephanie Hoke helped split the deficit. The first year registered her first career goal in a Marlin uniform as her shot bypassed the goalkeeper right before the end of the first. Things were then knotted up at 2-2 as the Cori Jackson placed a nice shot early in the third. Three minutes later though, Goucher scored the eventual game winner.
Despite the Marlins outshot the Gophers, 7-3, including two from Hoke and Haille Hatter.
Field hockey will return to action at 1 p.m. on Saturday as the team squares off against St. Mary's at Birdsong.
