VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – Stack.com came out with its list of the 50 Best Colleges for Female Athletes and Virginia Wesleyan College came in at No. 40 on the list.

The list is based on the number of NCAA championship appearances, percentage of female students participating in varsity sports and over 200,000 opinions from nearly 75,000 students. It encompasses all three divisions of NCAA athletics with the Marlins ranked No. 11 amongst Division III schools on the list. VWC is the only member of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) to break the top 50 schools.

The Marlins finished with one of the highest scores amongst student surveys with a 4.0 out of 5.0. The top score was a 4.3 received by the University of Alabama who finished No. 10 on the list. Virginia Wesleyan also garnered its favorable result by having 18.6% of the entire female student body participate in varsity athletics.

Virginia Wesleyan was the seventh-highest ranked school to have not won a national championship in a women's sport, which carried a lot of weight in the formula.
