VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – Gabrielle Lindo of the women's soccer team has been tabbed the Virginia Wesleyan University Marlin of the Week for the week ending on Sept. 15, 2019.
In just her second game as a Marlin, Lindo played a major role in securing a key regional victory for the Marlins. Receiving a throw-in just past the midfield line, Lindo dribbled the ball down the sideline while holding off a defender. The freshmen then cut in towards the top of the 18-yd box all while cutting loose from another defender. At the top of the box, a nifty stop and go move dropped a third defender. That left her all alone with a charging keeper, in which Lindo calmly chipped the ball over the head of to give the Marlins the 2-1 double overtime victory.
Women's soccer is currently 2-1-2 on the season with a match against St. Mary's at 4 p.m. on Wednesday next on the slate.
