Volleyball Drops Regular Season Finale to Nationally-Ranked Vikings

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – The Virginia Wesleyan University volleyball team dropped a tight contest its final regular season game to No. 20 Berry College, 3-0 (25-23, 25-18, 25-23), Saturday afternoon at the Christopher Newport University Invitational. With the result the Marlins finish the regular season with a record of 15-11 and will now await post season action.

Elizabeth Britton had a busy day on both the offensive and defensive side of things. The junior was tied for the team lead in kills with seven while also picking up 21 digs which was one-shy of a career record.

Helping out on offense was Doneisha Hall with seven kills.

Defensively pitching in was Sarah Brush who accumulated 17 digs in the three-set match. Sydney Collins also helped at the net picking up a pair of solo blocks and three block assists.

With all ODAC play finished, the Marlins have earned the fourth seed in the Championship with a record of 9-3. They will now be back in action on Wednesday as the team hosts fifth-seeded Roanoke.
