  • Matalus Collects All-America Honors

    LEXINGTON, Ky. – Amber Matalus of the Virginia Wesleyan University volleyball team has earned an All-America Honorable Mention nod from the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) for her performance during the 2018 season. She becomes the third Marlin in program history to earn such honors, joining Tiffany Barrett and Kala Guy (Herman).
  • Matalus Named to All-Region First Team

    LEXINGTON, Ky. – Amber Matalus of the Virginia Wesleyan University volleyball team has been named to the All-South Region First Team by the American Volleyball Coaches Association for her performance during the 2018 season. Matalus becomes only the third player in VWU history to receive All-Region honors.

    FOREST, Va. – Amber Matalus and Kristina Scott of the Virginia Wesleyan University volleyball team were both named to All-Old Dominion Athletic Conference Teams for their performances during the 2018 season. Matalus took home First Team honors, while Scott earned a spot on the Third Team.

    ASHLAND, Va. - The fourth-seeded Virginia Wesleyan University volleyball team fell to #1 Randolph-Macon, 3-0 (25-15, 25-15, 25-21), Friday evening in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Championship semifinal. With the result, the Marlins conclude their season with a 15-12 record, going 9-3 in conference play.
  • Volleyball Sweeps Roanoke In ODAC Championship Quarterfinal

    VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - The fourth-seeded Virginia Wesleyan University volleyball team dropped #5 Roanoke, 3-0 (25-22, 29-27, 25-16), Wednesday evening in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Championship Quarterfinal round. With the win the Marlins improve to 16-11 on the year while Roanoke finishes their season at 17-10.
  • Volleyball Drops Regular Season Finale to Nationally-Ranked Vikings

    NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – The Virginia Wesleyan University volleyball team dropped a tight contest its final regular season game to No. 20 Berry College, 3-0 (25-23, 25-18, 25-23), Saturday afternoon at the Christopher Newport University Invitational. With the result the Marlins finish the regular season with a record of 15-11 and will now await post season action.
  • Volleyball Drops Two at CNU Invitational

    NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - The Virginia Wesleyan University volleyball team fell twice on Friday at the Christopher Newport University Invitational. The Marlins dropped their match to nationally-ranked CNU, 3-0 (25-15, 25-15, 25-23) before falling to Averett University 3-1 (25-23, 23-25, 27-25, 25-21). With the results, the Marlins now boast a record of 15-10.
  • Volleyball Sweeps Battling Bishops on the Road

    ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. – The Virginia Wesleyan University volleyball team took down North Carolina Wesleyan College, 3-0 (25-12, 25-19, 25-16), on the road Tuesday evening. With the win, the Marlins move to 15-8 on the year while the Battling Bishops move to 8-21.
  • Volleyball Splits Final Two Conference Matches

    LEXINGTON, Va. – The Virginia Wesleyan University volleyball team split its tri-match Saturday afternoon on the campus of Washington and Lee. The squad downed Hollins 3-1 before dropping a 3-0 match to the host Generals. With the results, the Marlins are now 14-8 on the season and will finish with a conference record of 9-3.
  • Volleyball Takes Down Lynchburg in Straight Sets

    VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – The Virginia Wesleyan University volleyball team took down Lynchburg in straight sets (25-19, 25-22, 25-16) Wednesday evening at the Jane P. Batten Student Center. With the loss, the Marlins improve to 13-7 overall while moving to 7-2 in conference play. Lynchburg slides to 9-13 on the year (3-5 ODAC).

    SALEM, Va. – The Virginia Wesleyan University volleyball team finished out its weekend with another conference victory, taking down Roanoke, 3-1 (25-23, 20-25, 25-17, 25-14), on the road. With the win, the Marlins improve to 12-7 on the season while improving to 6-2 in conference action.
  • Offense Clicks as Volleyball Picks Up ODAC Victory

    FERRUM, Va. - The Virginia Wesleyan University volleyball team dropped Ferrum, 3-1 (23-25, 25-20, 25-14, 25-19), on the road Friday evening. With the victory the Marlins improve to 11-7 overall and 6-2 in conference play. Ferrum drops to 8-11 on the season (0-7 ODAC).

    HARRISONBURG, Va. - The Virginia Wesleyan University volleyball team dropped its match to Bridgewater, 3-0 (25-18, 25-20, 25-18), Tuesday evening on the road. With the loss, the Marlins slide to 10-7 overall and 5-2 in conference play. Bridgewater improves to 16-4 on the year (6-1 ODAC).

With the victory the Marlins jump to 10-6 on the season and 5-1 in conference play. The WildCats move to 5-12 overall (2-4 ODAC).

    ASHLAND, Va. - The Virginia Wesleyan University volleyball team suffered its first conference loss as the team fell, 3-1 (26-24, 25-13, 23-25, 25-13). With the result, the Marlins slide to 9-6 on the season and 4-1 in Old Dominion Athletic Conference play. RM-C holds the same overall record with a conference record of 5-1.

  • Volleyball Makes History with Marathon Match Victory Over CNU

    VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - It was a tremendous effort that had the Virginia Wesleyan University volleyball team upset No. 20 Christopher Newport University in the Jane P. Batten Student Center Wednesday evening. The match went the distance with the Marlins eventually picking up the win 22-25, 25-16, 14-25, 25-23, 15-13. The win pushes the Marlins record to 6-3 on the year and marks the first time in program history the Marlins have defeated CNU as well as a nationally-ranked team.

    VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – The Virginia Wesleyan University volleyball team opened up its Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) schedule with a win, taking down Eastern Mennonite in straight sets (25-20, 26-24, 25-15). With the win the Marlins are now 1-0 in the ODAC and 5-3 overall. EMU slips to 2-5 on the season (0-1 ODAC).

    ARLINGTON, Va. - The Virginia Wesleyan University volleyball team split its two games at the Marymount University on Saturday, taking down Wheaton College in straight sets before falling to the host Saints, 3-0, in match two. With the day’s results, VWU is now 4-3 on the season.

  • Volleyball Takes Two on Day Two of Virginia Wesleyan Tournament

    VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – The Virginia Wesleyan University volleyball team came out victorious in both of its game Saturday afternoon, finishing the Virginia Wesleyan Tournament with a 3-1 record. The squad cruised past Penn State-Berks, 3-0, before earning another 3-0 shutout against St. Mary’s College later in the day.
  • Volleyball Opens Up Season With a Hard-Fought Split

    VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – The Virginia Wesleyan University volleyball team got its season going with a day one split at its home Virginia Wesleyan Tournament Friday afternoon. The team narrowly dropped its opening match to McMurry University, 3-2, before coming back to defeat Widener University, 3-0, a short while later. The Marlins are now 1-1 on the early season.

    VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - The Virginia Wesleyan University volleyball team has announced its schedule for the upcoming 2018 season. The squad will compete in 30 matches, with 10 of them to be played at their own Donald M. Forsyth Gymnasium inside the Jane P. Batten Student Center.
