Women Win One of Three Saturday Dual Meets
ROANOKE, Va. -- The Virginia Wesleyan University women's swimming team claimed its second dual victory of the season, defeating Randolph College 111-35, while falling to Hollins University, 129-43 and Emory & Henry, 137-41.
The Marlins previously defeated Randolph College 105-47 in the first meet of the season.
One of the strongest events for the Marlins was the 50 yard freestyle as all three Marlins finished ahead of the Randolph competitors. Ashley Whipple took sixth (31.14), followed by Morgan Lucas (32.65), and Diana Jones (35.46).
Amanda Waller swam a 1:04.26 in the 100 yard freestyle to finish fourth out of the 10-swimmer field.
Taylor Morich posted a third place finish in the 500 yard freestyle, swimming a 7:29.10.
The 400 yard freestyle relay team of Allie Ghazaleh, Hayley Heath, Francesca Lanuza, and Lucas also took a third place finish with a time of 5:05.53, more than a minute faster than the team from Randolph.
Virginia Wesleyan will travel to the Washington and Lee Invitational on the weekend of December 2.
