NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - The Virginia Wesleyan University women's soccer team fell, 5-0, to nationally-ranked Christopher Newport University Monday evening on the road. With the loss, the Marlins move to 6-3-1 on the year while the Captains improve to 9-1-0.
The Marlins found themselves in a hole quickly as Christopher Newport scored four goals in a matter of 16 minutes. The Captains would take the 4-0 lead into the half. They would add one more before the final whistle handing the Marlins just their third loss of the season.
Alex Davidson came close to getting one back in the 56th minute but her shot rocketed off the cross bar and back out into play.
Tristen Roberts finished the contest with a career-high 10 saves despite being saddled with the loss.
Women's soccer returns to action at 4 p.m. on Wednesday as the squad hosts Sweet Briar for an ODAC tilt.
