Women's Lacrosse Suffer Setback On The Road

ASHLAND, Va. - The Virginia Wesleyan University women's lacrosse team fell, 18-6, to Randolph-Macon on the road Wednesday evening. With the loss, the Marlins slide to 7-5 overall and 1-4 in conference play. Randolph-Macon improves to 8-6 on the season (5-1 ODAC).

The Marlins had a difficult time stopping the Yellow Jacket offense in the first half as they put up 13 goals. The sole offense came by way of a Renee Burt free-position goal at the 17:27 mark. The second half was a bit more even as both team's netted five, but it was too late as the Marlins took their fourth ODAC loss.

Burt and Tori Manahan paced the offense as each came away with two goals. Ashley Campos and Jordan Callahan supplied the other two VWU goals of the evening.

Jordan Moilanen played all 60 minutes between the pipes for the Marlins, turning aside seven Yellow Jacket shots.

Women's lacrosse returns to action at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday as the team hosts Roanoke for Senior Day.
