Women's Lacrosse Drops Road Contest to Shenandoah

WINCHESTER, Va. - The Virginia Wesleyan University women's lacrosse team fell, 15-5, to Shenandoah Saturday morning on the road. With the loss, the Marlins move to 7-3 overall and 1-2 in conference play. Shenandoah improves to 9-4 on the year (3-1 ODAC).

The Marlins had a difficult time finding their offense in the first half as Liza Holford was the only player to net a goal. Coming out of the half down 11-1, VWU found its footing and piled in four more while holding the opposition to four as well. The effort wasn't enough though and Virginia Wesleyan suffered its second conference loss of the season.

Renee Burt led the squad with a pair of goals, both recorded in the second haalf. Avery Frangelli converted a free position shot on the man down situation and Abby Shope rounded out the scoring with a man up score.

Jordan Moilanen notched all 60 minutes in goal for the Marlins, turning aside 16 Hornet shots.

Women's lacrosse will return to action next Saturday as the squad hosts Bridgewater for a contest beginning at 4 p.m.
