Diallo Breaks Record as Women's T&F Nabs Eighth in Salisbury

SALISBURY, Md. – The Virginia Wesleyan University women's track team competed at the Eastern Shore Challenge Saturday in Salisbury Md. The Marlins placed eighth, producing 25 team points.

Much of the Marlin success was found in the throws, including Mariama Diallo in the discus who took down a Virginia Wesleyan University record. The freshman tossed it a distance of 35.85m, which toppled the Marlin record standing since 2013. Brynn Vandergriff also performed well as she produced the top Division III throw in the javelin, setting a mark of 31.84m.

Sticking with field events, Alizae Dollins placed sixth in the triple jump as she leapt a distance of 10.08m.

Over at the track, Kwonsha Washington had a solid showing in the 400m hurdles as the senior took third with a time of 1:06.46.

Women's track and field will return to action again on Friday as the team heads to Randolph for the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Championships.
