Track and Field Teams Wrap Up ODAC Championships
LYNCHBURG, Va. -- The Virginia Wesleyan College women's track and field team finished fifth as the men's team finished sixth at the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Championship on Saturday.
Bridgewater College won the men's and women's team titles. Bridgewater's Davonta Womack was men's athlete of the meet, while Washington and Lee's Dana Lee won female honors.
Similar to Friday's action, Saturday saw an ODAC Champion as the men's 4x400m relay team of Chrishaud Hawkins, A.J. Ramirez, Marquis Sivels, and Trey White captured the title in interesting fashion with a time of 3:18.12 after the Bridgewater College team that had broken the tape first was disqualified.
The 4x100m team of Siaka Bafalie, Ramirez, White, and Hawkins earned eight points for the Marlins with a second place finish, posting a mark of 42.98, just a half second behind Bridgewater.
Hawkins continued his good showing in the 400m hurdles, finishing second with a time of 54.90. Trevor Maloney garnered a point for the Marlins in the 5,000m with an eighth place finish of 15:44.68. White tallied two points in the 200m with a time of 22.86 to go with five points in the 400m (49.17).
Cody Below provided six more points for the men's team with his third place finish in the pole vault. Below cleared a height of 12' 6.5". Pearman garnered points for the Marlins in the javelin with a heave of 141' 3.25" that merited a sixth place finish and three points.
The women's team also had numerous point scorers on Saturday.
The Marlins had two point scorers in hurdle events as Alexis Coverton gained two with a time of 20.23 in the 100m hurdles to go with four points in Kwonsha Washington's 1:09.14 performance in the 400m hurdles.
Both Marlin relay teams earned points as the 4x100m squad of Alyssa Willis, Alizae Dollins, Hughes, and Mills finished third in a time of 49.76 to go with a 4:02.47, second place finish by the 4x400m team (Hughes, Willis, Dollins, Marissa Coombs).
