Jim Quinn begins his ninth season with the Virginia Wesleyan softball program in 2017-18. Quinn works primarily with the catchers and hitters, specializing in bunting and short game disciplines.
He helped guide the Marlins to ODAC titles in 2011, 2013, 2014, and 2016. The 2013 team finished the season with a 41-8 mark and an appearance in the NCAA Regional title game. The 2016 squad won 38 games and earned the first national No. 1 ranking in school history. The Marlins have consistently been ranked in the top 25 in his time with the program.
He has seen 12 All-Americans in his time with the squad: Tori Higginbotham (2012, 2013, 2014), Kristina Kargiorgis (2012, 2015), Courtney Bogan (2015, 2016), Kandis Kresinske (2016), Cassetty Howerin (2016, 2017), Hanna Hull (2017), and Kiersten Richardson (2017). In addition, there has been four State Pitchers of the Year and 32 All-State honorees to go with 30 All-Region selection and 47 All-ODAC recipients. There have also been four ODAC Players of the Year under his tutelage.
He is the former assistant coach at Grassfield High School and has coached several highly recognized club softball teams, including the Orion Hunter and the Virginia Lady Eagles. He is a NFCC Two Star Master Coach with the NFCA.
Quinn and his wife, Diane, reside in Chesapeake. The pair have two children, Jaclyn and David. Jaclyn, a standout on the VWC softball team, graduated in 2012. David is a 2012 graduate of Old Dominion University.
