VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – Hanna Hull of the Virginia Wesleyan University softball team has been named Fastpitch News' Pitcher of the Year as well as a member of its All-America First Team. This is her second time being named a First Team All-America by FPN.
Already named the Nation Fastpitch Coach of the Year's Player of the Year, Hanna Hull has put together another season for the history books. The sophomore led the country in strikeouts this season (376) giving her 768 in her career which broke the ODAC career record. All of those punch outs led to 40 wins, which tied an NCAA Division III record.
Hull really shined during the each of the NCAA Tournament Rounds this season, earning Most Outstanding Pitcher or Player Recognition at the Regionals, Super Regionals and the NCAA Championship. In Oklahoma City, Okla. the Chesterfield, Va. native pitched 41 of the 43 innings played, picking up five wins. Over the course of the first three games, Hull shut out all three foes, picking up a no hitter in the Championship opener against Ithaca College. She then secured the team's second-straight National Championship title as she allowed just a single hit in the final against Illinois Wesleyan University.
Hull helped her squad achieve the pinnacle of her sport this season with another National Title. She also played a major part in the team setting a new NCAA Division III record for wins in a season with 55.
