Marlins Place Four on NFCA All-Region Teams

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- The No. 1-ranked Virginia Wesleyan College softball team placed four members on the all-region teams as the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) announced their squads on Monday.

Hanna Hull, Cassetty Howerin, and Kiersten Richardson were all named to the All-Atlantic First Team while Courtney Wright garnered a third-team accolade.

Hull was one of just two pitchers to be named to the first team, and the lone freshman on that squad. Hull leads the nation with 27 wins and is one of the top arms in the country with 305 strikeouts. She is the only pitcher in ODAC history to strike out more than 300 batters in a single season.

Howerin earned First Team All-Atlantic after garnering ODAC Player of the Year honors. She has found her name listed on an all-region team after each of her three seasons on campus, also bringing home first-team laurels last year. Howerin has been a threat across the board this year, batting .446 with 11 home runs, 48 RBI, 44 runs, and 24 stolen bases.

Richardson is an All-Atlantic First Team selection at the 'at large' position after being recognized as a second team selection as a sophomore. She leads the nation with 58 stolen bases on the year and paces the Marlins with 62 runs scored to go with five home runs.

Wright is a Third Team All-Atlantic selection after going 15-0 with a 1.36 ERA. She added two saves in the regular season.

The No. 1 Marlins will face No. 13 Kean University in the NCAA Division III Super Regionals on Friday with a 4 p.m. start.
