No. 1 Marlins Advance to ODAC Championship

SALEM, Va. – No. 1 Virginia Wesleyan College advanced to the ODAC Softball Championship with a 4-0 victory over Randolph-Macon College on Saturday.

The game was scoreless until the fourth inning when the Marlins broke through for three runs. Three walks with one out loaded the bases for Jessica Lindsay. Randolph-Macon induced a ground ball to force the runner at home for the second out. Madison Glaubke walked to make the score 1-0. Kaylah Duplain followed with a single to left field to score Megan Meindl and Lindsay for the 3-0 lead.

Virginia Wesleyan added one more in the fifth when Blake Henderson singled home Kiersten Richardson with two outs.

Candace Whittemore (21-4) was saddled with the loss for Randolph-Macon (33-8), giving up four runs in five innings while walking six.

Hanna Hull (24-1) won her third game of the ODAC tournament, surrendering just two hits and one walk in six innings while striking out eight. Courtney Wright pitched a scoreless seventh inning.

Virginia Wesleyan (42-1) will play for the ODAC Championship Sunday at 1 p.m. against Emory & Henry College.
