Rinkus Shines as Marlins Finish Weekend at W&L Invitational
LEXINGTON, Va. -- Freshman Kristian Rinkus continued to shine for the men's swimming team this season with his performances on the final day of the Washington and Lee Invitational.
Rinkus set the school record in the 100 freestyle with a time of 51.66, as well as the 100 breaststroke with a 1:10.15. Both times bested marks previously set by Rinkus earlier in the season.
He then teamed with Jake Morgan, Kyle Woolf, and Patrick McKneely in the 400 freestyle relay to set another school record with a time of 3:52.13. It was the first time this quartet swam the event together in a meet, breaking the previous VWU record by an impressive 26 seconds.
The Marlins finished in fifth place with 146 points, ahead of the 26 points posted by Emory & Henry College. VWU was just half a point behind Randolph College for fourth place.
Virginia Wesleyan will host Salisbury University in a dual meet on Saturday, December 8 with a 5 p.m. start.
