Marlins Stumble at Roanoke in 2-0 Loss
SALEM, Va. – The Virginia Wesleyan University men's soccer team dropped a 2-0 decision to Roanoke College in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) action Saturday night.
The contest capped off a triple-header between the Marlins and Maroons as the two schools faced off in field hockey and women's soccer prior to the men's match. Roanoke claimed victories in all three games on Saturday.
Roanoke did not take long to score as David Kuttner ripped a shot into the left side of the goal for a 1-0 lead. The Maroon defense made that lead last throughout the first half as RC limited the Marlins to just one shot in the half.
The Maroons registered an insurance goal at 80:56 when Aidan Nagy found Marshall Hodge for the score.
Roanoke led 16-6 in shots and 6-3 in corner kicks. Nick Tadros made one save for Roanoke (6-4-1/1-1)
Nick Peterson made seven stops for the Marlins.
Virginia Wesleyan (6-4/1-1) travels to Bridgewater College (4-6/1-1) Wednesday for another 4 p.m. ODAC contest.
