Lacrosse Ends Season with Road Loss to Lynchburg

LYNCHBURG, Va. – The Virginia Wesleyan College men's lacrosse team ended its season with one of the toughest teams in the ODAC, falling to No. 17 Lynchburg College by a score of 25-6 on Saturday.

Harrison Brennan scored the first goal of the game for Lynchburg at the 12:52 mark. The Marlins answered at 11:41 when Matt Baldwin found Nick Zepko to even the score at one. Lynchburg scored the next nine goals though to take a 10-1 lead just under a minute into the second quarter.

VWC ended the run as Baldwin found Zepko again, but that would be the last time the Marlins would score until 17 minutes later, at the 11:17 mark in the third quarter. Justin FitzGerald found Austin Sax to cut the deficit to 19-3.

Baldwin found Zepko a third time for an early goal in the fourth quarter. Joe Couture added two goals to provide the final margin for VWC.

Logan Adams had a goal and five assists for Lynchburg (11-5/8-1) while Evan Lombardo scored four goals.

Zepko finished with three goals while Baldwin registered three assists for the Marlins. Evan Merrill scooped a team-best five ground balls.

Virginia Wesleyan ends the season with a record of 2-14 and an 0-9 mark in ODAC play.
