Big Second Half Carries Knights past VWC
VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – Southern Virginia University outscored Virginia Wesleyan 14-2 in the second half to defeat the Marlins 19-12 in a non-conference men's lacrosse contest on Wednesday night.
The Marlins came out aggressively and took a 6-2 lead at the end of the first quarter.
Southern Virginia cut the deficit to 6-4, but the Marlins scored four-straight over a two-minute period late in the second quarter to go up 10-4 as four different Marlins found the back of the cage.
The two teams exchanged goals in the first 90 seconds of the third quarter as the Marlins held onto an 11-6 lead. Southern Virginia scored 13 of the final 14 goals in the game to seal the win.
Lamb finished with five goals and six assists for Southern Virginia (5-8) while Anthony Good tallied five goals and one assist to go with four goals and two assists by Rich.
Virginia Wesleyan (2-9/0-4) travels to Guilford College (6-7/1-5) Saturday for a 1 p.m. ODAC contest.
