FOREST, Va. - Lamont Steward of the Virginia Wesleyan University men's basketball team has been named the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Player of the Week for the week ending on Dec. 3, 2017.
Steward turned in a total of 71 points over a four-game stretch as the Marlins continued their unbeaten streak to start the season.
The Norfolk, Va. native began the week with 15 points in the commanding victory over Apprentice School, nearly equaling that total two days later with a 14-point performance versus Lynchburg. Steward would cap off the week with 18 points against Greensboro College and 24 against North Carolina Wesleyan to bring his week's scoring average to 17.8 PPG.
Scoring wasn't the sophomore's only contribution though. Steward led the team in rebounds on the week, grabbing 36 total boards which included nine on the offensive glass.
To round out the stat sheet, Steward collected six blocks to go along with five assists and three steals.
Men's basketball will look to improve upon its perfect 7-0 record as the squad squares off against Averett University on Wednesday. Tip off will commence at 7:30 p.m. on Donald M. Forsyth Court.
